- Wash it right
Always use a mild, herbal shampoo that is easy on your hair and scalp. Follow it with a creamy conditioner. Make sure not to apply the conditioner to the roots or on the scalp, to prevent clogging the pores. Use more conditioner on the ends to fix split ends and make your curls look smoother. Leave for about a minute or two and rinse off. Never use hot water to wash your hair.
- Hair serum
Never leave your wet hair unprotected. Seal the cuticles with a few drops of hair serum and smoothen out the after-wash frizz. You can also mix a little creamy conditioner with water and spray it over wet hair and smoothen it out with a comb.
- Dry and style it right
You can use rollers or curlers to set the curls, which can last until the next wash. Ensure that your hair is slightly damp before using a roller. When using hair styling appliances, always make sure to use a heat protectant on your hair before styling, to prevent your hair from getting damaged and rough.
- Hot oil therapy
Pamper your curls with a weekly hot-oil treatment. Use a concoction of castor oil and coconut oil in a 1:2 ratio, warm it up and massage gently into your scalp, and all through the ends. Follow it with a hot towel wrap and leave for about five minutes. This helps the hair follicles absorb the nutrition from oils. You can keep the oil overnight or for a few hours and wash.
- Say Aloe!
Aloe vera gel works wonders to keep curly hair moisturized. Apply pure and natural aloe vera gel to your hair and leave it for 20-30 minutes and wash with plain, cool, water.
