The winter chills might feel incredible after the long months of scorching heat and slushy rain, but it brings with it a dry spell which can be harmful to the skin. Lack of humidity in winter causes dehydration of skin, making it flaky and crusty. Hence, in the autumn and fall, your skin needs more pampering than the rest of the year.
These simple and easy ways can keep your skin safe from the cold, harsh weather, while you enjoy a hot cup of coffee or chocolate milk in the icy-cold outdoors.
Cleanse without drying
During winter, the skin already has the least moisture, and using bar soaps can make them rough and dry. Instead use a mild cleansing bath gel, preferably with essential oils, to keep your skin nourished even after washing. Once in a month, pamper yourself with Facial Treatment that suits your skin-type to have soft and glowing skin in winters.
Moisturize, Moisturize & Repeat
Moisturizers are the ultimate food for your skin in the cold weather. For dry skin, use thick, nourishing creams, while lotions work better for normal to combination skin. Even if you have oily skin, you still need a light moisturizing lotion to prevent dryness. Keep your skin hydrated at all times, especially during the night. You can also opt for a spa treatment which works as deep moisturizing and nourishing treat for your skin.
Don’t forget sun protection
Although the sun is milder during winter, you still need a sun-block before stepping out. Apply sunblock with SPF 40 or higher if you have sensitive skin, or use a sunscreen gel if you have normal to oily/combination skin.
Use night treatment
Winter nights are coldest and can be unforgiving to your skin. Follow your standard cleansing-toning-moisturizing routine and replace the last step with a rich, nourishing night cream, preferably containing essential oils sourced from nuts and seeds. Massage well on your face, neck, hands, and feet. Also, use an eye-cream/gel to prevent fine lines and wrinkles from developing around the eye area.
Nourish your lips too
Chapped and chafed lips are synonymous to the cold breezy weather. Always apply lip balm before stepping outdoors and keep using it whenever your lips feel dry. There are no rules to using lip balm. Use balms containing nutritive agents like almond oil, jojoba oil, coconut oil, shea butter, or wheatgerm oil, and keep those pouts pretty throughout the chilly season. Also, once in a while exfoliate your lips with DIY homemade scrub to shed off dead and dry skin.
This winter, pamper yourself with an indulgent Skincare routine and let the season bring on its glow!
